Grinch who stole the gains

Grinch who stole the gains

So you're going to the gym 3-4 times a week, your food is good, you're making the right choices most of the time. You've cracked it.

But then December rocks up. There's work parties, mince pies everywhere, the temp has seriously dropped and it's dark so going to the gym just seems horrific. Sound familiar?

Why does this month make our fitness goals seem so much harder?! The gyms are dead, everyone just seems to want to drink and be merry until new year.

Well, what if I told you there's a way to get you through it, progress virtually unscathed?

Listen December is a time for maintenance. You don't have to be hitting PB's and dieting all year round. Now's the time to have some fun and take things back a little. If you consciously make the decision to relax a little and stop stressing, not only will you be happier but you more than likely won't stuff your face with gingerbread every minute of the waking day.

Here is what I recommend - half the volume in the gym - so it's simple, if you normally do 4 sets of 10 deadlifts, do 2 sets. Or if you like the conditioning workouts, do a 25-30 minute workout with minimal rest, that way you're sweating it out and can leave early, win win.

When it comes to diet go to maintenance calories. I wouldn't recommend being in a calorie deficit constantly, carry on eating nutritious meals and up your calories by 200. You also might be surprised at the affects the extra food has.

If increasing your calories and taking things easy in the gym is too much stress for you to take send me an email and we'll chat about how I can help you. I have a great online coaching service which will take away all of the hard work so you can focus on having a good time.
